Can non-exempt employees request compensatory time instead of cash?

Yes. A non-exempt employee may request compensatory time in lieu of cash payment.

Requirements:

  • The request must be in writing.
  • The request must be approved by the employee’s supervisor.
  • Employees may not switch between cash and comp time more than once per week.
  • Agencies may have stricter internal policies.
