Yes. If the employee is a:
• commissioned member of the Tennessee Department of Safety
• driver’s license examiner
• commissioned instructor at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy
• correctional officer
• youth service officer
…and is injured in the line of duty and unable to perform assigned duties (temporary or permanent), the appointing authority (with approval from the Governor and the Attorney General) may retain the employee on regular payroll until the Division of Claims Administration determines the compensation claim.
