How much advance notice must an employee give before taking parental leave?

An employee must provide at least 30 days' advance notice before parental leave begins. If 30 days' notice is not possible due to unforeseen circumstances or a medical emergency, notice should be given as soon as reasonably possible, typically within 1 to 2 business days of knowing the need for leave.
