Does paid parental leave have to be taken all at once?

No, paid parental leave does not need to be taken consecutively. Employees can take it in separate periods, but they must follow the notice requirements in Section 13.03 of the State of Tennessee Attendance and Leave Manual for each period of absence.

Additionally, paid parental leave must be used within 12 months of the qualifying birth or adoption.
