The State aims to maintain services using COOP and Emergency Workforce plans. Employees should decide if travel is safe and notify supervisors. If eligible, AWS may be allowed. Otherwise, time away is annual/comp leave or leave without pay if no balances remain. Employees who leave home at the normal time and arrive within a reasonable period should not be required to take leave.
If the Governor closes offices in certain counties, employees (except 24-hour facilities, emergency staff, or AWS employees required to work) receive administrative leave with pay for scheduled hours. Those required to work may earn comp time up to their schedule; hours beyond may be overtime per FLSA. Appointing authorities may grant admin leave with pay to executive/non-comp employees equal to hours worked (must be used within 12 months).
If an employee’s primary residence becomes uninhabitable due to a declared disaster, an appointing authority may grant up to 10 workdays of discretionary leave with pay.
