How is Tennessee’s government structured?

The State Constitution divides power into three branches:

  • Legislative – Makes the laws (General Assembly)
  • Executive – Carries out the laws (Governor & agencies)
  • Judicial – Interprets the laws (Supreme Court & other courts)
