If you are currently serving in the military and do not have a DD214, you may submit a statement or memorandum from your commanding officer if you are within 90 days of discharge from service.
The statement or memorandum must include:
- Your character of service;
- Dates of service;
- Expected date of discharge;
- The date of the statement or memorandum; and
- The commanding officer’s signature.
Once you receive your official discharge form, you must submit the documentation to continue receiving Veterans’ Preference. If the official discharge documentation is not submitted, Veterans’ Preference will be removed once the 90 days have expired.
All required documentation must be submitted or available in the applicant account being used before the job posting’s closing date.
For more information, review DOHR Policy 12-007 Veterans’ Preference.
