What are the residency requirements for spouses and surviving spouses?

To qualify for Veterans’ Preference, a spouse or surviving spouse must meet one of the following requirements:

• Be a qualified voter in Tennessee; or
• Have been a Tennessee resident for two years immediately preceding the application.

This documentation must be submitted or available in the applicant account being used before the job posting’s closing date.

Spouses and surviving spouses must also meet all other eligibility and documentation requirements for Veterans’ Preference.
