Does Veterans’ Preference affect layoffs or reduction-in-force decisions?

Yes. During a layoff or reduction-in-force, eligible veterans receive an additional 60 months of service credit when determining the order of layoff.

This additional service credit is applied in accordance with Tennessee law and State of Tennessee reduction-in-force procedures.
