Does Veterans’ Preference guarantee a job?

No. Veterans’ Preference does not guarantee a job offer, promotion, or selection for a position.

Veterans’ Preference provides eligible veterans with consideration during the hiring process as provided by Tennessee law. Applicants must still meet the minimum qualifications for the position and compete based on their qualifications, skills, abilities, competencies, and knowledge.
