Veterans’ Preference is a hiring preference provided under Tennessee law for eligible veterans who apply for Preferred Service positions with Tennessee State Government.
To receive Veterans’ Preference, an applicant must meet the minimum qualifications for the Preferred Service position and provide the required documentation. When those requirements are met, Veterans’ Preference is applied during the hiring process as provided by Tennessee law.
Veterans’ Preference may also apply to certain eligible spouses and surviving spouses of veterans, as provided by law.
Veterans’ Preference does not guarantee employment and does not waive minimum qualifications, job requirements, or any other hiring requirements.
