How does the state reschedule the work week to reduce overtime?

The system automatically reschedules hours worked and leave taken within the same work week to reduce unnecessary overtime costs. Overtime is calculated weekly, not daily.
Sick leave may be rescheduled in all situations, even when a doctor’s note is provided.

Example:
An employee works a 37.5-hour week (7.5 hours per day, Monday–Friday):

•    Monday: 10.5 hours
•    Tuesday: 7.5 hours
•    Wednesday: 7.5 hours
•    Thursday: 7.5 hours
•    Friday: Sick leave

The employee worked 33.0 hours of the 37.5-hour schedule.

The system will automatically apply 3.0 extra hours from Monday to reduce Friday’s sick leave to 4.5 hours.

No overtime is paid because the employee did not work over 37.5 hours for the week.
