The FMLA prohibits interference or discrimination against any employee exercising their rights to family and medical leave. It is unlawful for an employer to:
1. Interfere with, restrain, or deny an employee’s FMLA rights.
2. Discharge or discriminate against an employee for using FMLA leave, opposing unlawful practices, or participating in an FMLA-related proceeding.
Each agency’s FMLA Coordinator should regularly review internal practices to ensure compliance with these protections.
