How does FMLA leave coordinate with Workers’ Compensation?

If an employee’s injury or illness qualifies under both Workers’ Compensation and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the leave will be designated as FMLA leave for the same period, as permitted by law.
An employee cannot be required to return to light-duty work before their FMLA leave ends.
However, if the employee voluntarily accepts a light-duty position before the 12 weeks of FMLA leave expire, they still retain the right to return to their original or an equivalent position within 12 weeks from the start of FMLA leave.
