Yes. Employees who are official delegates (leader, coach, official, athlete) for U.S. teams at World, Pan-American, or Olympic level may request comp, annual, or special leave without pay.
Requirements:
- Employee is actively working when requesting leave
- Request made within a reasonable period (aim for 15 days before leave)
- Provide competition/training dates, total days needed (prep + travel), and proof of selection/qualification
Limit: The official training camp + competition + reasonable travel time, or 90 calendar days/year, whichever is less.
If participation ends early, notify the appointing authority and return to duty if able (after competition travel if already on site).
