Which employees cannot accrue leave?

  • Temporary employees with less than 6 months of service
  • Employees on educational leave (with or without pay)
  • Employees on emergency appointments
  • Employees on Division of Claims/Workers’ Comp leave
  • Employees on terminal leave
  • Employees on military leave without pay
  • Employees on special or parental leave without pay
  • Seasonal/part-time scheduled for under 1,600 hours in a fiscal year
  • Employees paid through the Sick Leave Bank
  • Limited-term appointees (e.g., commissioners) — time in the limited-term role may later count to set the correct service group if they move into an eligible position
