What is an irregular work schedule?

Some agencies require irregular or flexible schedules due to business needs.

  • Supervisors may adjust start/end times or workdays with approval from the appointing authority.
  • Flex time and compressed work weeks are also allowed with approval.
  • Any schedule totaling more than 37.5 hours per week must be approved by the Commissioners of Human Resources and Finance & Administration.

Employees must return to a regular schedule when:

  • Using extended annual, sick, or compensatory leave
  • On extended leave without pay
  • Receiving pay through the Sick Leave Bank
