This happens when both a Paper/Special Case I-9v and a Paperless I-9 Section 1 are submitted. The I-9 without a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) case number must be deleted.
Resolution: If both the Paper or Special Case I-9v and the Paperless I-9 Section 1 have been submitted, any I-9s that do not have a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) case number will need to be deleted by Department of Human Resources (DOHR).
To request a deletion, submit the Delete Duplicate I-9 request form.
Once you receive notification that the duplicate has been deleted, you can resume processing the I-9 with the DHS Case Number.
